I'm trying it again. or more, I have been trying for the last months but
didn't have time to write much on Sparkpeople. Now I do, because my
summer term is almost over, and so I have time to go on the site and
write things, and cook, and generally do things I normally don't have
time for.
I seem to have found a way to eat that I can focus on for a longer time,
not just for a few months and then disastrously fall off the wagon. I
need to eat low carb, because when I eat the normal amount of carbs that
seem to always be advised I gain, even if I eat almost no fat and lean
protein. But I love sugar, and I feel I'm addicted to it.
I am now managing to have one sugary snack a day, as a dessert, and two
times higher carb fruit for dessert. The rest of my meals and snacks are
low carb and this seems to work for me. The weight loss is very slow,
half a pound a week, but with all the problems with yoyo-dieting I've
had I think this is the way to go. I can do anything for 4 months if I'm
hyped up enough, but then the crash back down is enormous. This I can
do with a minimum of obsession and hype and so I hope that's the answer.
Hopefully, finally, after 24 years of pushing to weigh less when I
always end up gaining more and more. I now have Type II diabetes so it
becomes even more important that I do this for the long run, but it's
clear normal 'diets' don't work for me. I just need to start eating the
healthiest way possible now that I can do the rest of my life, and not
push for more.
