Ideas for Fighting Cravings

I have been having really bad cravings for carbs all my life, and I've spent a lot of time trying to fight them without much success. But now I have a little more hope. I am taking chromium which is helping a lot, I feel less hungry and there are a lot fewer cravings! The other thing I am doing that should help me be better able to fight cravings is that I am going to a therapy group for ACT and DBT. The group teaches methods to be able to 'push through' your negative emotions, to not fight them but be present with them, and go with the flow of them but not too deep. That way they don't come back even stronger because you pushed them away, but you just let them come and go. I am getting ready to use that technique now that I've been practicing these techniques.

So I'm planning to do at least two things from the following list if I have a bad craving for unplanned sweets:
-Do 10 minutes of mindfullness or DBT meditation
-Eat a piece of cheese, at least 1 oz, or a handful of nuts, or eat a veggie with protein snack (creamcheese on celery for example)
-Write a blog about my feelings (how upset I am or what is causing me to want to eat)
-Go to the bathroom and brush my teeth
-Chew a piece of gum for at least 10 minutes
-Go out to buy a sugar free soda and drink it
-Drink 16 oz of water or water with mio
-Email or call a friend
-Finish one 'hard' sudoku puzzle
-Go for a 10-minute walk outside
-Do 10 minutes of chair yoga at my desk

If the craving is still super strong after two of these actions, the third thing to do is to see if it's possible to fit a small portion of what I want in a 20% meal/snack with the eggs, cheese, or other protein I have in my lunchbag and some veggies for fiber. Also if I use exercise right before or after a snack I can keep it from influencing my blood sugars too badly.
